Maria Spiropulu (Caltech)

M. Spiropulu  is the Shang-Yi Ch'en Professor of Physics at Caltech. She received her PhD in physics from Harvard and was an Enrico Fermi Fellow at the University of Chicago before moving to CERN. Her group at Caltech played a key role in the discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012 and has been leading the design, R&D and construction for an ambitious ultra- precision timing detector system for the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider. Since 2013, she has initiated a program on AI/ML for the acceleration of discovery in elementary particle physics with exchanges and applications in other science domains.
