12:00 pm Zoom Room (online)
Richard Kron, UChicago, "The Science of Margaret Burbidge (1919-2020)"
The talk is about how Margaret's interests in the abundances of the elements (famously, B2FH) and in galaxy masses connect with each other. The focus would be on what she was doing while at UChicago, as opposed to afterwards, similar to what Rich did on Nancy Roman. Specifically, the plan is to talk about the early work on galaxy rotation curves and more generally galaxy velocities.
We will moderate by watching the chat and raised hands, trying to keep it interactive. It'll probably be a little over 30 minutes, and volunteers for later Tuesdays this spring term are welcome!
