We will have a chalk talk discussion on the Petition to Support Black Astronomers, led by junior members of the department. The petition, which has been signed by more than 150 current and former members of A&A and KICP, contains concrete demands for our department and KICP to commit to creating a safer and more welcoming community for our Black colleagues. This petition was created after learning from and listening to Black activists in the Astronomy community, and represents a minimum proposal of changes that must be implemented in the department. We invite you to join us tomorrow for a discussion of how we can collectively work to create these necessary large-scale changes within our community.
