CubeSats have graduated from educational prototypes to pint-sized operational powerhouses. With current and projected platform pointing, propulsion, and networking capabilities, we consider three example cases of game-changing capability: 1) Earth atmospheric sounding and weather prediction, 2) distributed sensors that use laser communication crosslinks and precision timing, and 3) enabling astronomical imaging of fainter objects than ever before with a constellation of space-based laser guide stars.
