Tongyan Lin ( UC San Diego) "14 billion years in the life of a dark matter particle"

In recent years, the search for particle dark matter has expanded dramatically. Motivated candidates include dark matter particles over a much wider mass range and with a variety of possible mediators to the Standard Model. In this talk, I will illustrate these developments by reviewing the life story of one class of dark matter candidate below the GeV mass scale. I will describe a mechanism for producing this particle in the early universe, prospects for testing it with probes of structure formation and the CMB, and new directions for direct detection experiments that could observe it in the coming decades.
