I will tell you about my career path and my transition from academia to industry. I have an unusual path, from being a postdoc, to becoming a data scientist, then a product manager, and now a lead product architect. All of these transitions were within 8 years after leaving academia. I will tell you what my typical day looks like, what I do, and where I struggle and succeed. Over the years I have worked with many former academics, so l can share with you the key qualities that make academics successful in industry.
