Keith Bechtol (University of Wisconsin-Madison)  "Vera C. Rubin Observatory: from Commissioning to Cosmology"

The Vera C. Rubin Observatory is poised to begin a wide, deep, and fast survey of the entire night sky visible from Chile's Atacama Desert with the goal of cataloging more galaxies and more supernova light curves during its first year of science operations in 2025-2026 than all previous cosmic surveys combined. The Rubin Observatory construction project is now actively engaged in system integration, test, and commissioning with first on-sky images expected in mid-2024. I will discuss the pathway from commissioning to realizing first cosmology results with Rubin Observatory.
