Fermilab seminar: Mauricio Bustamante (Niels Bohr Institute)

1:00–2:00 pm ERC 401

Mauricio Bustamante (Niels Bohr Institute) "Neutrino physics at the cosmic and energy frontiers"

About speaker: I hold a PhD in Physics and I am an Assistant Professor at the Niels Bohr Institute of the University of Copenhagen. My work is on theoretical astroparticle physics. One of my main interests is the flux of high-energy astrophysical neutrinos discovered by IceCube: finding its sources, spectra, distribution, and flavor composition. I am also interested in the connection between these neutrinos and ultra-high-energy cosmic rays. Over the past years, we have been improving the neutrino and cosmic-ray predictions from gamma-ray bursts. Coming from a particle-physics background, I am also drawn to exploring fundamental particle physics and Beyond the Standard Model physics in high-energy neutrinos.
