Nick Choustikov (Oxford University) "Inferring the ionizing photon contributions of high-redshift galaxies to reionization"
JWST observations have the potential to provide unprecedented constraints on the history of reionization and the sources responsible for the ionizing photons. However, such observations typically rely on indirect diagnostics to determine whether ionizing photons are even able to escape their host galaxy. I will discuss the physics behind such indirect estimators for Lyman Continuum escape, before presenting a novel approach to infer the ionizing contributions of high-redshift galaxies, applied directly to a sample of 4559 high-redshift galaxies observed with JWST/NIRCAM.
