Nora Shipp and Gourav Khullar, both astronomy graduate students, applied for Inclusive Climate Grant funding in support of IDEA Day. In 2019, the half-day event in May featured invited talks by speakers from around the Chicagoland area highlighting junior Black astronomers, mental health support, and supporting first-generation, low-income, and minoritized students in the classroom. More than fifty people attended its inaugural launch.
